 “Tribute: Guardians of Street Dance” marks the 20th anniversary of Versa-Style Street Dance Company, celebrating the legacy and evolution of Hip Hop and street dance.
Debuting on the Carpenter Center's dance stage, this uplifting and energetic performance pays homage to Hip Hop and street dance artists including Rennie Harris, Damita Jo Freeman, and Toni Basil, as well as late legends such as Stephen “tWitch” Boss and Marjory Smarth. With photo and video elements woven into high-energy choreography, the piece honors the roots and future of styles like Hip Hop, house, popping, locking, and more. A moving tribute to both renowned and unsung innovators, the evening promises a powerful celebration of dance culture.
