The Verdi Chorus continues its 42nd season with its Spring 2026 Concert Verdi in España for two performances only at the First Presbyterian Church in Santa Monica on April 18 and 19, 2026. Led by Anne Marie Ketchum, who is celebrating forty-two consecutive years as Artistic Director of the organization, the Verdi Chorus is the only choral group in Southern California that focuses primarily on the dramatic and diverse music for opera chorus. The program will feature operatic sequences from Verdi’s
Don Carlo, Il Trovatore, La Traviata, Ernani and Bizet’s Carmen along with selections from Spanish composers
Catán, Granados, Giménez, Torroba and De Falla.
The program will also feature three guest soloists: soprano Leela Subramaniam, who has sung with some of the world’s most prestigious houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, Bavarian State Opera, LA Opera, and Carnegie Hall award -winning mezzo soprano Audrey Babcock, who is quickly gaining notoriety for her commanding, powerful performances as Carmen and her dark, hypnotic portrayals of Maddalena in Rigoletto and renowned baritone Roberto Perlas Gómez, who, with over 100 roles to his credit, has performed extensively throughout the United States and acclaimed guest performing artist Andres Vadin on guitar.
