Seong-Jin Cho is one of the leading pianists of his generation, internationally acclaimed for his poetic artistry, technical brilliance, and expressive interpretations. He rose to worldwide prominence after winning First Prize at the 2015 Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, launching a career that has taken him to the world’s most prestigious concert halls and orchestras.

He rose to worldwide prominence after winning First Prize at the 2015 Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, launching a career that has taken him to the world’s most prestigious concert halls and orchestras.
An exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist, Cho has performed with renowned ensembles including the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Los Angeles Philharmonic. He regularly collaborates with distinguished conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Andris Nelsons, Sir Simon Rattle, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and Myung-Whun Chung. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to classical music, he received the Samsung Ho-Am Prize in the Arts in 2023.
Cho’s award-winning discography features works by Chopin, Mozart, Debussy, Handel, Schubert, and Ravel. His recording of Ravel’s complete solo piano works and concertos earned the 2025 Opus Klassik Instrumentalist of the Year award. Born in Seoul in 1994, Cho began studying piano at the age of six, later studying with Michel Béroff at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. He is currently based in Berlin.
