Celebrate, amplify, and reimagine Southeast Asian sound at Southeast Asia Fest, a vibrant 1.5-hour concert showcasing original arrangements of beloved music from Southeast Asian cinema. The program transforms classics such as Getaran Jiwa and Bengawan Solo, blending jazzy grooves with rich ethnic soundscapes to honor tradition while embracing contemporary expression.
Led and performed by students from the departments of ethnomusicology and global jazz studies, Southeast Asia Fest spotlights underrepresented voices and expands culturally diverse musical offerings on campus. Featuring approximately 20 student musicians on stage, the concert celebrates community, creativity, and the dynamic musical legacy of the Southeast Asian diaspora.
