Cal Poly’s Pilipino Cultural Night (PCN) is a student-run cultural production that celebrates Pilipino-American heritage through dance, drama, and music. Created over the course of a year, PCN brings students together to showcase their talents and reconnect with their culture.
The show features performances by Kasayahan, our traditional Filipino dance group, alongside our Modern dance group, which explores styles such as hip-hop and contemporary. It also highlights Ating Himig, our non-audition choir, performing a variety of songs in both English and Tagalog throughout the program.
At the center of the production is our script, Pagkamulat, a creative take on Pilipino-American experiences. It follows a dutiful son and his estranged sister who reunite as their father’s illness brings old wounds to the surface. As tensions rise, they must confront whether money can hold their family together or if buried secrets will tear them apart.
