Love Struck: Two Latinas, one American and one Cuban, in a hurricane of lust, love, and other devastations. Rachel, the American, and Laura, the Cuban, have been together for three years. The white-hot lust of their early courtship has evolved into a warm domesticity, They energize their love life with role-playing, cosplay, and erotic accessories. Laura, the more successful of the two, has bought a comfortable Los Angeles home where they reside. Rachel wants to become as accomplished as Laura. Rachel is also beginning to feel homesick for her native New York. Will love keep them together? Odalys Nanin is co-writer, co-director, and portrays Laura. Two -and-a-half decades of artistic output have given her iconic status in the Latinx and LGBTQ communities. Her previous plays include Frida-Stroke of Passion Skin of Honey Garbo’s Cuban Lover The Nun and the Countess Beyond Love The Adventures of the Lieutenant Nun Naked in the Tropics Lavender Love Marilyn: My Secret and The Judy Garland Show. Ms. Nanin is the recipient of the Nancy Dean Playwriting Award. She is the Founder and Producing Artistic Director of Macha Theatre /Films. She has a national audience as an actor from her multiple roles on series television, including Jane the Virgin (The CW), Criminal Minds (CBS), and a recurring role on Games People Play (BET). Angela Nicholas co-directs. She is also an actor, producer, playwright, choreographer and costume designer. She previously collaborated with Ms. Nanin on Odalys’ play Garbo’s Cuban Lover. Marie Barrientos is the co-writer. Also an actor, she is best known to national audiences for her recurring characters on television series Law and Order and Another World. Lizette Santiago plays Rachel. Born and raised in Spanish Harlem, Lizette graduated from Long Island University. She received several acting awards for her roles in the film La Wija, the podcast Whiskey Hollow Road, and the Short and Sweet Hollywood Festival in 2024, She appeared in Frida-Stroke of Passion: The Immersive Experience. Love Struck was first produced in 1997. Daring at the time, it proved to be a pioneering lesbian romantic comedy. It’s time to get Love Struck all over again: for the laughs, for the sex, for the romance, for the love.
