Called an “exquisite jewel of a play” by Time magazine, Love Letters is a profound theatrical exploration of the powerful, and sometimes painful, connection of love. A.R. Gurney (1930-2017) is the playwright. The author of 61 plays was inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame in 2004. His shows for Broadway include Love Letters, Sylvia, Sweet Sue and The Golden Age. Love Letters debuted on Broadway in 1989. Jane Jenkins plays Melissa and Joseph D’Agosta portrays Andy. Our two performers are most widely known for their distinguished achievements as casting directors. Jane Jenkins’ casting credits include The Princess Bride, Beetlejuice, Casino Royale (2006), When Harry Met Sally, Stand by Me, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and so many more. Joseph D’Agosta came to Los Angeles to be an actor, studied with Lee Strasberg, Joanne Linville at Stella Adler and now Gloria Gifford. Earlier, he landed a job hiring extras at MGM and has served as a Casting Director and Producer for thirty-five years at the following companies: MGM Studio: Vice President of World Wide Casting Desilu/Paramount Studios: Head Of All Television Casting Universal Studios: Head of all Special Television Projects including Pilots and Movies of the week Associate Producer and Producer on three television series Columbia Studios: Associate Producer of a Television Series CBS Television: TV Casting 20th Century Fox Studios: Feature and Television Casting Warner Bros Studios: Feature Casting Further, he has cast Independent Features and some television. Internationally. he is best known for Casting the original Star Trek and Mission Impossible television series and the film, The Year of Living Dangerously, where he cast a woman to play a man, Linda Hunt , who won the Academy Award ®. Gloria Gifford (winner of NAACP Best Director Award for Antony and Cleopatra and Much Ado About Nothing) directs. The New York and Broadway- trained director/actress/teacher received an M.A. from the New School, where she studied Criminology after graduating with a degree in Political Science from SUNY New Paltz. She has directed over 75 stage productions, including On Golden Pond (with Salome Jens and Andrew Prine), Our Lady of 121st St. (L.A. Times Critic’s Choice), The Tempest, Romantic Comedy, A Bed and a Bar, Summer and Smoke, Wait Until Dark, Love Allways, and many more. A veteran actor with credits on Broadway, in hit films (opposite Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, John Candy and Tobey Maguire), and recurring roles on four TV series, she has also been known as an acting coach to emerging stars and as the producer of the Rebel Planet Short Film Festival in Hollywood.
