Experience the power, precision, and passion of Baroque music as Southern California’s own chamber music phenomenon, KONTRAPUNKTUS, returns to the Armstrong Theatre with Contrapuntal Voices: The Baroque Masterworks. This electrifying program celebrates the composers who transformed Western music, featuring works by Purcell, Vivaldi, Bach, and more, brought to life with the ensemble’s signature blend of artistry, energy, and technical brilliance.
Led by Concertmaster Wenlan Jackson (Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin) and Artistic Director/cellist Osheen Manukyan (Resident Fellow of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra), KONTRAPUNKTUS unites an extraordinary roster of world-class musicians for a performance that is both deeply expressive and exhilarating. The group features Colburn Orchestra violinists, Eunice Lee, Duncan McDougall, Dawid Kasprzak, Colburn Orchestra Principal violist, Yuri Santos, violist Nico Valencia (USC Thornton School of Music), double bassist, Nicholas Arredondo (Auckland Philharmonia) and harpsichordist, Hejun Yang (American Bach Soloist Academy). Award winning oboist, Jini Baik, will make her debut with KONTRAPUNKTUS as the featured concert soloist.
