Set against the presidential election and political turmoil of 2000 , Ellen unapologetically weaves her complex passions through the lives of her family and friends in this funny, intelligent and searing play In The Wake illuminates the assumptions that lie at the heart of the American character and exposes the ‘blind spots” that mask us from ourselves. As the country shifts and relationships strain, longtime bonds are tested—revealing blind spots, contradictions, and the hard truths we avoid even among those we love most.
