Experience the Australian Chamber Orchestra in a uniquely intimate setting, bathed in the warm glow of candlelight. This renowned ensemble, known for their virtuosic playing and adventurous programming, will present a program that spans centuries of musical expression. In the candlelit Samueli Theater, hear Purcell's hauntingly beautiful Fantasia on One Note, Handel's majestically celebratory Concerto Grosso in A Major, Op. 6 No. 11, a sonically immersive new work by John Luther Adams, Vaughan Williams' ethereally soaring "The Lark Ascending" (arranged by Adam Johnson), and Fanny Mendelssohn's charmingly lyrical String Quartet in Eb (arranged for strings).
The Australian Chamber Orchestra is 17 musicians who live and breathe music. Led by Artistic Director Richard Tognetti, the ACO makes waves around the world for explosive performances, adventurous cross-artform collaborations and dynamic programs that embrace celebrated classics alongside new music and commissions.
